Power Lines

PRINCE GEORGE, Va -- Four Former Prince George High School Graduates have completed the SVCC Power Line Worker Program at Southside Virginia Community College.

Steven Henderson, Graham Jones, Trey Steward and Scott Stewart, all former graduates of Prince George High School, completed the Southside Virginia Community College Power Line Worker Training Program on May 12, 2021. 

The 11-week program provides both classroom and hands-on training in safety, climbing techniques, electrical theory, aerial framing, rigging, operating utility service equipment and commercial drivers' license training. 

Credentials earned through the program include Commercial Driver's License, OSHA 10, CPR/First Aid, NCCER Power Line Worker Level 1 and VDOT Traffic Controller.

Electric utility line workers are tasked with installing, removing, maintaining and repairing low and high-voltage distribution lines and associated equipment and facilities.
