PRINCE GEORGE – This week, The Prince George Journal named the University of Central Florida Knights national champions by virtue of their undefeated record and 34-27 Peach Bowl Victory over Auburn on Jan. 1.
The Journal is the first publication of record to name the Knights national champions, which flies in the face of the NCAA’s College Football Playoff system. Alabama and Georgia will square off in the National Championship Game on Monday, Jan. 8 in Atlanta.
However, due to Auburn’s regular season victories over both Alabama (12-1) and Georgia (13-1), and Central Florida’s subsequent victory over Auburn (10-4) to go along with a perfect 13-0 record, the editorial board at the Journal saw fit to declare the Knights national champions.
Today, copies of the 2017 University of Central Florida 2017 National Championship commemorative editions are rolling off the presses of The Journal.
