PRINCE GEORGE – Just after 5 p.m. Sunday, Prince George County Police were called to investigate a possible fraud at the Rite Aid Pharmacy in the 5200-block of Oaklawn Boulevard.
The involved vehicle, a 2013 Blue Hyundai Sonata, 4-door sedan, displaying NY license plates, was located in the Crossings Shopping Center.
As an officer arrived on scene, the driver of the suspect vehicle, while attempting to flee the area, crashed into the front of the officer’s police vehicle. As the driver disregarded signal by law-enforcement to stop, a police pursuit was initiated.
The pursuit left Prince George County and entered into the City of Colonial Heights. With the assistance of the Colonial Heights Police Department, the vehicle was stopped and the occupants were apprehended. The chase ended at the Citizens Bank & Trust located in the 400-block of Southpark Boulevard.
There were no reported injuries and no further damage to property as a result of this incident.
The driver of the vehicle has been identified as 21-year-old Jerrold Merriwether. Two additional passengers were identified as 21-year-old Zion Millette-Selby and 22-year-old David Mitchell. All three occupants of the suspect vehicle are from New York State.
Numerous items of evidence were recovered, to include counterfeit currency. All three occupants were charged with fraud and counterfeit offenses.
This incident is still under investigation, and additional charges are expected.
