PRINCE GEORGE – The search for a missing Prince George County man has come to a tragic end as authorities confirmed they found the missing person deceased.
According to Prince George County Police, 26-year-old Matthew Wallace was found dead after he was reported missing by family members on September 7 after he walked away from his home just after 5:30 p.m. that day.
The department turned to the public for help, asking those who may have seen Wallace, who was in need of medication according to family members, to call the police department with information.
Few details are known about where Wallace was found, but authorities said the investigation has now transitioned from a missing person report to a death investigation.
“Our thoughts are with Mathew’s family and friends at this difficult time,” the department said in a statement Tuesday. “We thank the public and media for your assistance.”
