PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George High School’s field hockey team was recognized at a recent school board meeting for their successful season. Coach Maggie Roberts and her three assistant coaches led the team to finish second in the region with a 15-5 record. Roberts said that the girls have worked hard this season.
“We love these kids,” Roberts said. “They’re phenomenal students, they’re phenomenal athletes, and we couldn’t have asked for a better group.”
Roberts said that the team is losing seven seniors, but she voiced her optimism that with ten returning players the team will have a good 2018 season.
“Hopefully next year we will be on the right path and do the same thing that we did this year,” Roberts said.
Board Chair Kevin Foster also commented on how hardworking the team members are, both on the field and in the classroom, and he said that the field hockey program is on the right track.
“I think you’ve been on the right track for a long time, and I think next year you will continue to be on that right track, and we’re really proud of you,” Foster said. “I think when we hear from the parents and certainly see your caliber of play on the field, you guys are just awesome. There’s really no other word to describe you except awesome.”
