PRINCE GEORGE – Local authorities are starting their week with an investigation into two shootings in the county that left two people injured and several home damaged by gunfire.
According to police, during the overnight hours of Sunday, officers were called to the 3700 block of Madison Street for a report of shots fired in the area. Once they arrived and canvassed the area, their search turned up negative. Shortly after that initial call, county police were made aware of two victims suffering from gunshot wounds arriving at John Randolph Medical Center’s emergency room in neighboring Hopewell.
Officers were able to determine that these victims were connected to the shots fired call along Madison Street Sunday night, with gunfire damage to homes in the area also being discovered during their investigation.
An hour later, just before 2:30 a.m., another shots fired call was sent out by dispatchers, this time in the 3700 block of Robert E. Lee Drive, which is only a short distance away from the initial call in the area on Madison Street. Police found another home damaged by gunfire but no injuries were reported.
Firearm cartridges were collected as evidence from both scenes as they investigate the pair of shootings.
