PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George County Police stressed there is no threat to public safety following an incident Tuesday where a woman was found with a gunshot wound outside of Station 7 on Moody Road.

The message came from local authorities Thursday afternoon as they continue to investigate the incident that occurred just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Police were called to 11800 Moody Road for a report of a suspicious incident, which later turned out to be a vehicle that had struck a pole in the parking lot of Prince George Fire and EMS Station 7 just off James River Drive.

It was revealed that an unidentified female county resident “suffering from a gunshot wound to her head” drove herself to the emergency station. That woman was taken to VCU Medical Center in Richmond with a life-threatening injury.

While the investigation remains ongoing into the circumstances surrounding the shooting, Prince George Police stressed to residents Thursday “there is no public safety threat related to this incident.”
