PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George Police have arrested a pair of suspects in connection with the theft of numerous pieces of lawn equipment from the Lowe’s Home Improvement store in the county’s West End, some of which may have been sold on Facebook
According to authorities, 32-year-old Demarreo Antjuan Walker of Chesterfield and 25-year-old Delonete Evans of Petersburg were arrested Tuesday and charged with a total of sixteen counts of grand larceny and five counts of selling stolen property for profit. Evans was also charged with four counts of conspiracy to commit larceny.
The charges are all tied to a series of thefts from the Lowe’s store along Waterside Drive just off Puddledock Road between May 23 and June 3 of this year. Prince George investigators said nearly 30 pieces of lawn equipment, each of which was valued at over $300, were stolen by the pair during that time.
The investigation revealed that Delonete Evans, a Lowe’s employee, would meet with Walker inside the store to obtain lawn equipment. Evans would then escort Walker outside of the store with the unpaid goods.
“With the assistance of Lowe’s employees, and store camera video footage, police were able to identify the individuals and retrieve some of the stolen items,” police said in a statement.
Both Walker and Evans are being held at Riverside Regional Jail.
Police are asking those who may have bought any items from Walker on Facebook Marketplace between May 23 and June 3 to contact Prince George County Police Detective Mann by phone at (804) 733-2773 or by email JMann@princegeorgecountyva.gov
