PRINCE GEORGE – Are you filling in your calendar for all the wonderful events you want to attend this fall? Central Virginia is known for the most fun and festive autumn celebrations in all of the Commonwealth. You will definitely want to make a note on your calendar to attend the Celebration of Life Fall Festival—it is one that should not be missed. This event is family-friendly, fun for all ages, and is entirely-free. The festival will be held on Friday evening, October 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum will again be hosting the free Celebration of Life Fall Festival this year. There will be games, food, a really cool bouncy house, hayrides, scavenger hunts, cotton candy, live music performed by Little Church Singers, and so much more.
“I sponsor this evening of family fun each fall because life goes on, even after there is a death of a loved one,” said Carol Hendricks, owner of Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens and Mausoleum. “Our loved ones would want us to continue to live our lives when they are gone.”
The Celebration of Life Fall Festival will be held at the office of Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Merchants Hope is located at 11302 Merchants Hope Road, North Prince George, 23860. Although there is absolutely no charge to attendees for the food, games, or activities during the evening, Merchants Hope is asking participants to please bring toiletries to benefit the veterans at McGuire Veteran’s Hospital. Last year’s toiletry drive was very successful, and so appreciated by the patients and staff at McGuire’s. It is a small way to say thank you to our military for giving so much for our freedoms.
“This family-owned cemetery is operated as a ministry, as well as a business; reaching out to families at a very stressful time in their lives,” remarked Donna Golightly, Office Assistant, Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. “The staff strives daily to meet the needs of the families served by Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens, and the individual desires of each family member. The Celebration of Life Fall Festival is one of many ways Merchants Hope does this.”
The Celebration of Life Fall Festival is just one of many community activities offered by Merchants Hope each year. Merchant Hope hosts the Wreaths Across America Ceremony each December, the Mother’s Day Butterfly Release in May, participates in the Prince George Christmas Parade, the Prince George Back to School Supplies Fair, and the Christmas Grand Illumination and Tree Lighting Ceremony each December.
