PRINCE GEORGE – As the community and nation tries to adapt to what seems to be a new normal with social distancing, closed schools, and alterations to the way things are usually done, a Southside Virginia restauranteur is helping Prince George families by providing meals during the challenging time.
Partnering with Prince George County Public Schools, Luis and Carmen Pedraza, owners of Luca Italian Restaurant and Morelia Mexican Restaurant in the heart of the county helped area families with meals during a time where stores have become increasingly barren and students are out of school, affecting meals some rely on during the school day.
Wednesday, 300 chicken and cheese quesadillas were distributed at their Mexican restaurant along Courthouse Road, with a second distribution planned for Thursday.
Beginning at 5 p.m. Thursday, 300 spaghetti with meat sauce dinners will be available for pickup for free at Luca’s for Prince George students and their families. The meals will be shared on a first-come, first-served basis.
No purchase is required to receive the meal.
“A very special thank you from Prince George County Public Schools for helping us take care of our community,” school officials said of the Pedraza family’s act of kindness.
Luca is located at 6411 Courthouse Rd in Prince George.
