County police investigating string of car break-ins, stolen vehicles

PRINCE GEORGE – Prince George Police is reaching out to the public for help finding the criminals responsible for a string of car break-ins and motor vehicle thefts in recent days.

In a statement, investigators said the crime spree took place on the county’s south side during the early morning hours of Saturday, Sept. 24.

At least 12 unsecured cars were broken into during that time, with items such as sunglasses, credit cards, cash, identification cards, and a handgun all being among the effects stolen.

So far, authorities said they have recovered one of the vehicles that were stolen during last Saturday’s crime spree, but they are still searching for a black 2013 Jaguar XJ with Virginia Independent Dealer plates of 22911. Police advised that the tags may have been removed from the vehicle in order to escape detection.
